Religion vs. Morality University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan (presented by
UMSO & sponsored by
ARI) Conventionally, most people believe that morality can only be based in religious faith - that in a world without God no principles of right and wrong could exist. Related to this, philosophers have long held that no objective, fact-based, rational code of values is possible. Regarding both points, this talk shows that the exact opposite is true. The purpose of morality is to guide human life on earth - and religion is utterly incapable of it. Flourishing life requires a code of secularism, rationality, egoism and freedom. Religious faith clashes with every principle of a proper moral code, and, as such, has led, and can only lead to, hell on earth. "The Capitalist Manifesto: The Historic, Economic and Philosophic Case for Laissez-Faire" 1-hour talk plus 1-hour Q&A on the book will air for the first time on BOOK TV (C-SPAN2 channel). Monday December 19, 2005 from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. EST. This talk was videotaped by C-SPAN at Marist College on Dec. 6th. C-SPAN personnel have said that Andy's talk will air on several more times in different time slots on future weekends between now and the end of January 2006. ALSO: Dr. Andrew Bernstein will be interviewed on Air America radio about his new book "The Capitalist Manifesto". Monday Night, December 19, 2005, show starting at 7:00 p.m. EST. Dr. Bernstein will be on for 10 minutes with Thom Hartmann, who is filling in as a guest host. Recent Appearances: "Global Capitalism: The Solution to World Oppression and Poverty"
